We've had so many of our clients ask about framing or comment on this section, we've decided to keep it going!

Protect
your art.
You've received
your print ... now what?
The next
step is to take it to a certified framer. There, you'll
find a selection of mattes, frames and glass to choose
from. Whether you choose a wood (pictured), resin or metal
frame, there are some things to keep in mind:
1.
Your print was shipped rolled. Our
framer advised that a quick press in the dry mount
press straightens everything out, without damaging
the print. Weighting the print for several days also works.
2.
UV glass is recommended to protect the print from
fading. This is especially important if the print
is being hung in a bright room. If possible, do not
hang your print in direct sunlight.
3.
Non-glare glass is available. It does cut down light
reflections, but does not protect the art and does
cut down on the brightness and clarity of the print.
4.
Ask for acid free matte(s) - this is a must, no matter how you choose to frame it.
5.
If your print was accompanied by a
Certificate of Authenticity, have it mounted to the
framed print's backing in an envelope.

The frame should
suit
the art.
When choosing
frame and matte styles and colors, keep in mind that
they should enhance the art, rather than suit the
decor.
Take the time to have
your framer show you an assortment of color/style
combinations within your budget. If in doubt, keep
it simple. A brushed pewter or silver frame with a
white main matte and colored accent matte, works very
well. As does a chunky black frame with either a black outter matte and colored accent matte or a single black matte wth a v-groove. |
|

Don't
be afraid of color.
With so many choices available,
the urge to go with color mattes can be irresistible!
And in all honesty, can make a beautiful work of art
even better.
So, we've taken a sampling of Michael's
paintings and played around with some different color
matte combinations. We hope this inspires you to be
creative!

| It'll
Be
Sold Out By Christmas!
"THEY
CAME WITH THE FARM" isn't even a year old, and already it's nearly sold out.
You may have seen it on the August cover of Mopar Collector's Guide. Or maybe, you made the trip to Powerama in Edmonton, the Mopar Nationals in Ohio or Moparfest in New Hamburg. In any case, it's those four big events that helped push this already popular print to being nearly sold out in less than a year!
But fear not, as of November 1, 2007 we do still have some available and estimate they will last until Christmas. We do not increase print prices based on "after market pricing," so the price is still $140 (with Free Shipping) and will stay at that price until they are gone. However, although we have strict policies against dealers selling Michael's art for less than our retail price, we do not interfere with them selling it for more. So, based on previous sold out editions, you can expect to see the price of They Came With The Farm to double and triple within weeks of selling out!
For you Mustang lovers, the last 3 prints in the Reflections of Horsepower Series are also very very limited. Looks like all three, Kings of the Road, Thoroughbreds and Desert Snakes, will be sold out by early 2008, if not sooner.

Grand Theft Art
WE'RE NOT TALKING about breaking into someone's home, a gallery or a studio and stealing the art off the walls or artist's easel. We're talking about taking liberties with other people’s property. By liberties, I mean counterfeiting—reproducing, without permission, the artwork of contemporary artists.
Modern reproductions of paintings by some of the great talents of the past like Da Vinci, Van Gogh and Mondrian are "public domain" due to their age. And therefore, can and are being re-printed and sold to the public. That is why today you can buy a "Mona Lisa" poster for under $100.
What is troubling to us and other automotive artists, is that we are now seeing unauthorized reproductions of recently completed paintings. Usually, they are very poor quality color photocopies and sell for around $10. They show up at flea markets, swap meets and the occasional car show. What can the harm be? A true collector would never purchase such an inferior product, right? The problem is, it is theft. And there are people that buy them. And it devalues the true, artist approved reproductions. And it takes food from the mouths of artists' families. The people photocopying them or downloading images from the internet and selling them, are thieves, plain and simple. What they are doing, is against the law and they must be stopped.
What makes things even worse, is that the venues and show organizers are either unaware, or turning a blind eye to the business practices of these unsavory vendors—helping to perpetuate the myth that the reproduction and sale of these prints is acceptable and legal. These vendors are thieves and are selling you stolen merchandise.
As much as it would be great to be able to attend every show (just to look at the cars) or contact every venue, it’s just not possible for us, or others in the art community. That’s where you come in. Whether it’s Michael’s art, or someone else's, we need your assistance. We’re asking that in order to help protect your investment, while you’re attending an event, if you spot someone selling counterfeit art, take a moment to snap a quick digital shot. If you can write down the vendor’s name or grab a business card, that would be helpful as well. Then, either send or email the artist or us, and we’ll forward it to them, the event organizers or the authorities. Together, we can put a stop to this type of theft. Thank you.

Originals Available for Purchase
It's taken a while, but we finally agreed on which paintings we could let go. Michael spends 100s of hours working on each piece and there is a real personal connection with every one—kind of like restoring a car!
We also found the time to create the page on our website. In the secition, entitled, Commissions, Originals and Giclee Prints, you'll find what you need to know. Rumor has it that Michael might have one or two originals with him at Barrett Jackson Scottdale in January ... we'll keep you posted.

The
Proof is in the Remarque
re·marque
(r-märk) n.
A small original drawing or sketch made by an artist
in the margin of a print. An artist personalization.
Michael's
Artist Proofs with Remarque
are hot, hot, hot and with good reason! They are very
rare and very unique.
He's one of the few artists that remarques his
Artist Proofs. A remarqued print is more desirable to
many serious art collectors. The remarque adds value
to a print in that it then becomes a one-of-a-kind with
the addition of the original artwork by the artist.
It increases the value of the print because only a few
are remarqued (in Michael's case, only 20 for each print).
For many collectors this is a agreeable compromise between
a standard print and the expense of an original work.
What makes this even more unique and special is
that Michael will customize your remarque.
That is, he will draw your car, or portion of your car,
or any other image you have in mind! Or, you can leave
the creative up to him.
The
Artist Proofs of Mach Speed
are sold out. There are only a few
opportunities left to own a reproduction of the sold
out print, Evolution of a Legend.
And there are only 3 opportunities left to own an Artist Proof of They Came With The Farm.
more information on Michael's Artist Proofs with
Remarque.
